I replied to my friend’s query about, “If I lost my SIM can I get the same number?” I told her that apart from lodging an FIR, she should visit the service provider's office with her Adhaar card. 

I told her that it is mandatory to provide the Aadhaar card, only then the service provider will give her a SIM card with the same number. Depending on the service provider, the new SIM will be activated in 2-4 hours. The prior balance will also be transferred to the new SIM.

The mobile SIM will not work if your smartphone is stolen, misplaced, or the result of some other circumstance. In the event of a loss, the owner must phone customer service from a different number to disable the sim as soon as possible for security reasons.

• Reissuing a duplicate SIM requires completing a few paperwork procedures, thus you must go to the operator store.

• Tell the executive that you lost your SIM and want a new one issued with the same number.

• You will be guided through the necessary processes by Executive. (Note - If you have filed a FIR complaint, remember to bring a copy of the FIR along with your address, proof of identification (Aadhaar), and a passport-size photo.)

• Complete all the necessary paperwork and pay the fee for a duplicate SIM card to be issued.

• The activation of the new sim card will take a few hours.

• Your activated services and any lost sim balance will be automatically transferred to your current phone number.
