Q.

I sold off my plot to another buyer and we got the registry done on 14th March 2022. I had an existing loan against the plot and the buyer got loan transferred from same bank. The bank informed that they will handover the banker's cheque to settle my loan account on day of registration. The buyer got the value registered at Circle Rate and the bank personnel refused to handover cheque for my loan account settlement as they want sale value registered to be atleast as much as the loan sanctioned amount. a) What are my options to get out of this situation? b) Can bank refuse to settle my loan balance through the banker's cheque (which is currently with the bank, we only have a pic for reference) as my buyer's loan has already been disbursed and currently bank is charging interest from both me and the buyer.

Because the bank is liable to compensate the specified amount to the recipient, the banker's cheques cannot be rejected. According to RBI standards, the time frame of Banker's Cheques is decreased from 6 months to 3 months from the date of issue. So I suggest you contact your home branch and get the issue resolved at the earliest. If things don’t pan out, I would suggest you get in touch with a loan expert or financial advisor for the same.

NoBroker offers home loans with minimal charges and documentation.
