My vastu consultant once told me that it is not considered lucky to buy a house which is on higher floors as they are devoid of water connectivity naturally. This symbolizes that there can be trouble in your paradise in terms of jobs, relationships and career. House number depends on which floor you buy your flat in an apartment (I consulted with him on this matter as well).
Ideally lower floors or ground floors are considered auspicious as they signify oneness with the mother earth and have all the elements at one place. However, the direction of the house and face of the entrance make a difference as well.
