Now, it is not necessary to only show the PAN card for the rent agreement. Like Aadhar, PAN is a form of ID proof. So, the landlord may ask for it. But you can give other forms of valid ID proofs, too.

Is Rent Agreement Valid if Not Registered?

The simple rule for the registration of a rent agreement is that if the rental period is less than or equal to 11 months, the unregistered agreement is still considered a valid piece of evidence in a court of law.
