In piping hot summers, it is so difficult to be in the kitchen without any ventilation cooking for hours. After I saw my mother dripping in sweat, cooking for us, I decided to put some source of cool air and ventilation in our kitchen. I thought of going for a ceiling fan, so I researched is a ceiling fan in the kitchen a good idea. Here is what I found out. 

Are Ceiling Fans in Kitchens Outdated?

• I found out that having a ceiling fan in the kitchen can be a great idea for several reasons. It greatly increases air circulation while cooking, and the kitchen seems cooler and cosier. 

• I also saw that a ceiling fan can also work as an exhaust for minor cooking smell. My mother would turn on the fan as she cooked to remove any overpowering smells and maintain a fresh air. This is especially helpful when cooking fried or spicy dishes.

• The airflow can also help in keeping small bugs or insects away.

There are a few things to bear in mind, though. Stay cautious when you are near an open flame, such as a gas stove. If the fan is not being watched, it may blow the flames and pose a safety risk. So I think that adding a ceiling fan to the kitchen will improve ventilation and comfort, and  can be a useful addition to your kitchen area if you also take care of the safety precautions.

So India is a humid country and a place known for its delicious cuisine is loved by all. Especially home-cooked food is especially healthy and mouth-watering. But cooking a meal takes a lot of time. I have seen my mother working hard for us day and night standing by the kitchen without any fan, especially during the hot irresistible summers. So we thought about installing a fan in the kitchen. Now, the first question that popped into our mind is, is ceiling fan in kitchen good idea? I will explain my views on this one.

Can we use ceiling fan in kitchen?

Well, I feel installing a ceiling fan in the kitchen is not the best idea! I will tell you why. The gas we use to cook is inflammable and most Indians rely on gas to cook the food. By chance a gas leak then the whole house is going to be set on fire. The movement of the fan will cause the gas to spread rapidly all around the house. So this is why we generally don't install fans in the kitchen.

I feel just for our own safety we should not install a fan in the kitchen. This is my view on is a ceiling fan in the kitchen a good idea. 

For proper ventilation, we can use the chimney, exhaust fan which will remove all the hot air from the kitchen. 

The alternative hack would be to buy a table fan or install a wall fan that will fan us in only one direction. Also, during the summer my mother turns on the fan in the living room which is near to the kitchen. It helps to breathe in the kitchen but does not totally reduce the heat level during the summers.
