According to my uncle, opening the window while the AC is running on a summer day will only invite humidity into the home. He said that the longer I keep them open, the more moisture will enter my home.
Making the AC Work Harder
Uncle said that open windows let the cool air escape the room. This makes the air conditioner work harder, and thus, the AC runs for a longer duration. This will not only cause it to fail prematurely but also shorten the lifespan of the AC.
