When I was redoing my living room, I was curious about the best way to hang wallpaper. The painter explained two main methods: pasting the wall or pasting the wallpaper. As I had no idea whether is it better to paste the wall or wallpaper, I completely left it on him. Watching him work gave me a clear idea of which method works best. He chose to paste the wall, and I have shared a few reasons why it is better than the latter..
Why is it Better to Paste a Wall than Wallpaper it?
When you paste the wall, you don’t need to soak the wallpaper in paste first. The painter simply applied the adhesive directly onto the wall, which made the process quicker and less messy.
One thing I noticed was how easy it was to adjust the wallpaper once it was up. Since the wall was pasted, the wallpaper could be moved around to ensure it was aligned perfectly. This method allowed for easier repositioning without tearing the wallpaper.
By pasting the wall, there wasn’t any excess glue dripping everywhere. The painter worked in sections, pasting small areas of the wall at a time and carefully hanging the paper. This kept the area cleaner compared to the traditional method.
Another benefit was how quickly the wallpaper settled. Without the need to wait for the glue to dry on the wallpaper itself, the whole process was faster, allowing us to finish the room in much less time.
In my experience, pasting the wall is definitely a better option if you want a simpler and cleaner wallpapering process.
