You can't use Plaster of Paris for wood polish, as far as I know. Open-grained wood, such as oak, can be filled using plaster of Paris. It is promoted as a suitable, quick-drying, and simple-to-use alternative to traditional grain fillers.

However, I feel that plaster of Paris cannot be used as wood polish, but that it can be used as a wood grain filler.
