Q.

My brother-in-law transferred his flat in my name without any agreement in 1985. The share certificate has my name as the owner. Will there be any issue while selling as there is no agreement between my brother-in-law and me?

It is always advisable to have a sale agreement in place when selling a property. However, if there is no agreement between you and your brother-in-law, it may be difficult to sell the property. You may need to approach a lawyer to help you draft an agreement that will be acceptable to both parties. The share certificate that has your name as the owner of the flat will be helpful in establishing your ownership of the property.
