Old Mahabalipuram Road or OMR is also known as Rajiv Gandhi IT Expressway or Rajiv Gandhi Salai. The 45 km stretch of road is lined by several ITES and IT Companies and BPOs; and the popular TIDEL Park.

This road also provides great opportunities for gastronomic tours and is also the location of several educational and technical institutions of repute. Check out what people say as soon as I talk about investing in "OMR":

Negatives:
  1. Relatively more pollution

  2. The lifespan of the building can be reduced due to proximity to the seashore. The iron rods can easily corrode if they are not of excellent quality

  3. Drinking water problem

  4. Salty water content

Positives

:

  1. Real estate price increases on a Y-Y basis

  2. Good rental income

  3. Luxury and kind of poshness feeling

  4. Easy accessibility & travel

  5. Excellent location advantage

If you like this location then, you can buy a property in the OMR belt, such as Padur, Kelambakkam. If you don’t want to stay in OMR, then you can buy properties in a residential area like Pudhupakkam, Ponmar, and Sithalapakkam.

Hey,

When you think about buying a house. You may feel overwhelmed, I know I was. I was overthinking about the location of the house, type of house, amenities available, home loan application and so much more. I did some research and made up my mind about the OMR area in Chennai. I read some OMR Chennai South Negative Review online and some positive ones. I will share my own in the paragraph below.

OMR Chennai South Positive Review :

I think OMR, Perungudi is a good area to live in. It has good infrastructure, there are pakka roads with proper street lights. It is surrounded by well-known IT companies, schools, colleges, hospitals, and clinics. If you purchase a house there, you won't need to travel far to spot a good grocery store or entertainment centre. It is extremely profitable for those who are working in IT companies as they don't have to travel far every day for their jobs.

OMR Chennai South Negative Review :

As much as I like the area. I have to admit and share that it does have a few negative aspects as well. Residents of the area have complained that there is a problem with water. The drinking water that is supplied there is the reason for many complaints. The area also gets salt water content because the area is close to the seashore. If this water is used for construction, the iron rods used for the buying structure can get corroded. I also feel the area is increasingly polluted because of its fast urbanisation.

Though, If you can find a way around the negative points. Getting a house in the OMR Chennai South is a good investment for the future. I feel the price of real estate will only shoot up. You can also look at properties in the nearby areas of the OMR belt. Few options are Sithalapakkam, Ponmar, Pudupakkam, Padur, Kelambakkam.
