I'm not a Vastu Expert but I've grown up in a family where Vastu and Astrology are like dinner table discussions, so here are my two cents on this subject:
You have raised an interesting topic. Fish Aquariums, North West Direction and Entry of a house are all important elements from a Vastu Stand point. We will take a look at all these elements one by one.
North West or the Vayavya direction is governed by Vayu, the Wind God. The ruling planet is Moon.
Now, Fish tanks are used in homes as a remedy for many vastu doshas. Moving water and fishes calm the mind, reduce anxiety and blood pressure. Fishes are also said of to absorb negative energy and ward off the evil eyes and convert it to positive energy. Fishes are a symbol of wealth, prosperity, abundance and good luck.
Best Direction for Fish Tank as per Vastu
Living room is a great place to keep a fish tank for multiple reasons:
- Fish tanks can't be placed in kitchens as foul gases from kitchen can be harmful for the fishes and the tank water may get polluted.
- Fish Tanks are suitable for bedroom as bedroom is a place where one needs stability, the fishes in the aquarium are always moving. Also the light from the Fish tank can disturb the sleep of the residents.
- Hence, this makes living room an ideal place for placing Fish Tanks as per Vastu. Also, the gleaming fishes capture the attention of the visitors/guests, whose entry is limited to the living area, they can't place an evil eye on the other riches present in the home.
- If the water tank is small, you can keep it at the North West Entrance, please avoid if the Fish Tank is bulky.
- Fish aquarium are most beneficial in North East direction as they bring prosperity if kept here.
- North or East of living room are also good positions for a Fish Tank in a house if the tanks are small in size. Fish tank in North gives Career growth & financial progress. Whereas a Fish Tank placed in East brings happiness, and beneficial for kids.
- South or South-East are not good for Fish Aquariums as water element should not be placed in these directions which are ruled by Lord Agni.
- If the tank is big, place the aquarium in West direction of the living room.
- Do ensure that the fish tank is not kept under a beam or a stairway, as it can cause sadness.
- Fish should be 9 in number like 9 planets.
- Always keep aquarium water clean.
- Your zodiac-signs also plays a role in deciding how many fishes, which coloured fishes you should keep at home.
- Don't keep televisions, computers, music systems, stabilisers close to the aquariums
- Never let the tank stay empty if the fishes die, replace with new fishes quickly, else it can bring negativity and depression.
