When I started my kitchen remodelling, I focussed on materials that were within my budget. So before installing, I did market research about the approximate quartz or granite price. I learned the average price per square foot for quartz kitchen countertops is between Rs. 120 and Rs. 150. The price per square foot for installing a granite countertop ranges from Rs. 100 to Rs. 130.

In this debate on quartz or granite better material which one, I selected granite. The reasons behind this decision are based on the below-given factors.

Quartz or Granite Which is Better in Kitchen?

Apart from the cost factor, I researched several other factors that helped me in deciding which material to choose, quartz or granite in kitchen;

  • Appearance:
  1. Granite is available in a variety of colours, from earth tones to vivid greens and blues.

  2. Quartz, on the other hand, has a greater variety of colours. The price of quartz kitchen countertops is affected by these features.

  • Impact on the environment:
  1. Granite may be more environmentally friendly because it doesn't contain any artificial resins.

  2. Quartz is produced using chemical resins.

  • Composition:
  1. The natural quartz stone powder that makes up the countertops is between 93% and 95% quartz stone, plus a few other minerals and colouring agents. The final component is the resin that connects everything.

  2. Granite is dug up, shaped, and installed to create countertops made entirely of natural granite. As a result, granite countertops in kitchens are more affordable than quartz.

  • Heat-Resistant Materials:

Compared to quartz countertops, granite countertops that have been properly sealed are more resilient to high temperatures. Unlike quartz, granite will not immediately break if a hot pot or pan is placed on it.

Finally, it is because of these factors, that I selected granite kitchen countertops.

Which is best for flooring marble or granite or tiles?

Hi Buddy,

When it comes to bathroom or kitchen worktops, there are usually two options: quartz (engineered stone) vs granite (natural stone). When I was redoing my kitchen, I was stuck between quartz vs granite comparison.

Get advice from the home interior experts at NoBroker to choose between quartz and granite for your kitchen countertops.

Because the difference between the two countertop materials isn't obvious, this is a difficult selection. After all, quartz and granite are both advertised as being 100% natural, fresh from the soil, and as hard as stone by their respective producers.

Difference between quartz and granite countertops:
Granite  Quartz

Granite is a completely natural stone that is mined and cut into thin slabs before being polished and manufactured into countertops.

Quartz countertops are engineered stone products that comprise a substantial percentage of natural quartz as well as other minerals. They are stone byproducts that have been crushed down and made into slabs for countertops and other applications.

The one advantage of granite over-engineered stone is that each slab has a slightly different mineral pattern and colour, making your countertop one-of-a-kind.

Quartz countertops, as a constructed product, have a more uniform appearance, despite the fact that they come in a wide range of colours and patterns, including some that don't resemble granite at all.

Granite is a porous stone that requires sealing at the time of installation and afterward on a regular basis. Granite slabs may also contain faults that make them susceptible to fracture.

Quartz, on the other hand, does not need to be sealed because of the resins used in the slab construction, and the material is consistent throughout, thus it rarely breaks. Quartz countertops are much more stain-resistant than granite because of the resins in them. Because of the resins that make the surface less porous, quartz is also less prone to bacterial growth.

I would like to conclude my answer here about the quartz vs granite comparison by highlighting that both of these materials are high-end construction materials that will impress potential buyers. Granite and quartz countertops may increase the value of your property marginally when compared to laminate or ceramic tile worktops. Because granite is a more natural stone, some purchasers may give it a minor advantage.
