Should I Paint My Brick House?

I had a brick house which had been unpainted for a long time. Hence, I hired a painter to paint my brick house. He said it is very important to get your house painted at least twice in a year. I asked why should I paint my brick house regularly.He informed me that there are some noteworthy advantages in doing so.

Why should I Paint the Brick on My House?

These are some of the advantages he listed me:

• Painting the brick house leaves your home sealed. If an uncontrolled amount of water were to seep into your brick house, the bricks could break down after some years. Painting the house gives it a good sealant and added protection.

• Painting the brick gives it an additional protective layer against extreme weather conditions.

• Painting a brick house would brighten up the house exterior and add a splash of colour to it. The best colours he suggested for a brick house were White and Beige paints. He said these colours would change the overall look and feel. This would also lift up the house beautifully.

• The painting of your brick house can be customised. You can decide what shades and colours to paint. Some areas of the house can be painted and maybe one or two places could be left unpainted.

• Removing dirt, dust and debris from paint is far easier than removing it from brick. Painted brick can be washed easily.

• They left it to dry up completely for a day

• The next day they gave a coat of mineral-based paint to one side of our house. You can also opt for silicate paint since they also recommended it as well

• The process was slow since such walls are porous and absorb paint a lot but they were right. 

They took about 24 days to complete the whole work and trust me, the brick house painting looks great so do not have a second thought while opting for brick house painting.

However do remember that our plaster was all new so there was not much dirt that needed to be cleaned. But if you are opting to paint an old house, the surface of the walls need to get scrubbed thoroughly before applying the primer coat.
