The way you should look at this is by comparing the ROI on planned investment vs the interest you will end up paying for that additional amount when paying back EMIs. If the ROI is higher than the interest outflow, it makes sense to invest instead of paying off the loan in advance. But one thing that needs to be paid attention to is that the investment return forecast will be speculative and returns will be subjective to market conditions. Having a home loan allows you enjoy the additional tax benefit which you might lose in case you decide to pay off loan in advance.
