My office is only around 3 km away from my house and it's quite a hassle to walk or take a ride for this distance. I decided that it would be best to ride a bicycle. Since I had one in my hometown, I decided to send it by train the next time I went home. To know about the process and cycle transportation charges by train, I called my friend who recently sent his cycle.

What are the Railway Parcel Charges for Cycle?

My friend had previously sent his bicycle by train, and he told me that he had to pay Rs. 3000. He also said that it was around 3 years back, and the price could have gone higher. I decided to do some research on my own to know about the charges and came across the answer provided by Ajitesh.

Apart from the train parcel charges for cycle, I also learned about the process of sending the bicycle, which I have added below.

  • Go to the parcel transport office around 1 or 2 days before the intended date. Also, make sure to carry all the necessary documents relating.

  • Pack your cycle properly and fill out the provided form.

  • Next, pay the required fees and collect the booking/ payment receipt.

  • Produce the booking/ payment receipt while collecting the cycle.

And that’s how you can send a cycle through railways. I hope this helps.

The charges for cycle parcel charges in train vary depending on factors such as the distance traveled, the weight and size of the cycle, and the specific policies of the railway authorities. I have recently shifted my motorcycle from Delhi to Ajmer through Indian Railways. I’ll be happy to share the cost that I was charged.

How Much is the Railway Parcel Charges for Cycle?

Parcel rates are divided into three categories: P-scale, R-scale, and S-scale, depending on the kind of train. The Railway website provides access to the I. R. C. A. Coaching Tariff, which includes a table of parcel prices, weight/dimension indications, and distance information.
