Hi. I rented out my 2 BHK flat in Pune a month ago. I have another property which’s been on rent for years. So, I can tell you about the responsibilities of both the landlord and the tenant once the latter moves in.

Responsibilities of Landlord

  1. Maintaining habitable conditions for the tenant

  2. Following the local building and housing codes.

  3. Taking up the responsibility of doing necessary repairs to maintain living conditions.

  4. Giving advance notice to the tenants before visiting the property.

Responsibilities of Tenants

  1. Paying rent on time.

  2. Keeping the house condition intact.

  3. Using the house property with care,

  4. Repairing damage.

  5. Reporting problems to the landlord as soon as they find out.

  6. Giving access to the landlord for inspection and repairs.

  7. Complying with the rent agreement and lease.

  8. Following the building rules.

  9. Not subletting.

These are all the responsibilities.
