What are Runner Rugs?

I always used to find narrow empty spaces in my home and I couldn’t really understand what to do with them until I came across some runner rugs which my sister gifted me on Diwali. It was then that I understood that large runner rugs or even small ones fill up the narrow spaces in such a way that they give an elongated appearance to the house. So, I am going to tell you all I know about runner rugs from the day I got them as a Diwali present till now.

What are runner rugs, exactly? No, they aren't rugs for running on, though they might be if you have little children! However, one of the main reasons runner carpets are called "runners" is that they are typically used in high-traffic areas. Rugs that are longer than they are wide are known as runner rugs. They look to be thin and lengthy as if designed for a hallway. Long rectangular rugs are frequently used in designated places.

Runner rugs are long rectangular rugs used for directing visitors to a specific location, protecting floors in high-traffic areas, and adding texture and décor to vacant spots. We can use runner rugs for the following purposes too.

• Décor:

  To begin with, runner rugs are a simple method to dress up the empty, small places in your home. Runner rugs are available in a variety of shapes and sizes. Try a gorgeous modern oriental rug if you like boho decor. Choose a flat weave rug in a neutral hue like grey, white, or cream if you prefer to keep things simple.

• High traffic areas:

  It is possible for the flooring to be harmed by wear and tear in high-traffic areas. A robust rug in that location, such as a corridor or a stairwell, will help preserve the flooring from damage. Furthermore, spills, pet urine and shedding, and dirt from outdoors are more prone to make these areas unclean.

• Leading to a space:

  Runner rugs are frequently used to direct visitors to specific sections of your home. Because it is narrow and long, the mind is tricked into believing that there is a specific destination at the end of the line. As a result, you can utilise a runner rug in your home to artistically guide your guests and so be the perfect host.
