It has been a while since I got my house painted, and this time, I wanted to do it on my own. I called my uncle and asked him about the house painting procedure. He told me that the process is very simple and is divided into a few steps. Here are the steps that he mentioned.

Uncle said, before I start painting the house, I must choose the colour. This is because choosing the colour of your house takes time. 

The next step was about filling all the holes in the wall. He told me to use wall putty to close all the holes before the next step. 

After that, he asked me to start sanding the walls to get rid of any sort of rough patches on it. 

Now, he told me to apply primer on the walls. He told me to use the first coat of primer and then wait for some time before applying the second coat. 

For painting the walls, he told me to start from the corners in a uniform manner. He also told me to make sure that the brush is loaded with enough paint.

• After priming, sanding of the walls and ceilings is done with sandpaper, as the primer increases the fibres of the drywall paper.

• The painters then run an inspection to check for any existing damages, such as gaps and holes in the walls. 

• The defects are covered with sanding and spot priming. 

• Next comes the turn to apply two coats of paint on the ceilings. This is done by giving ample breaks between both coats. The first coat must dry completely before the second coat is applied.

• The wall is painted next in the sequence with two coats, starting from the top and coming down. The painters ensure that the ceiling paint remains unaffected during the process.

• Post the completion of the trim work, the priming, sanding and cleaning are done. Trim joints are filled with caulk. 

• Applying two coats of paint on the trim, the painters move towards the final coat of paint to be done on the walls.

• They check for any missed areas or patches. After identification of such areas, they sand and prime them. This is followed by painting the areas.
