Knowing the wardrobe dimensions will help you find the best wardrobe for your home. Wardrobes are a necessary part of the interior design of our home. An advanced smart wardrobe will provide sufficient space so you can keep your valuables in a systematic manner.

It normally consists of drawers and shelves to arrange your clothes, accessories, shoes, and other essentials. Let’s see what is the standard wardrobe depth.

Sliding wardrobe standard size:

Sliding wardrobes are space-saving, practical, and fashionable. They take up less space than fixed closets and are ideal for compact bedrooms with narrow areas between the bed and the wardrobe.

  • A sliding wardrobe's normal dimensions start at six feet and can go up to twelve feet according to the floor design, family size, and requirements.

  • Seven feet in height and two feet in depth are the normal height and depths.

  • You can choose two, three, or even four sliders for your closet, depending on the width.

Walk-in wardrobe standard size:

Walk-in wardrobes are lavish, beautiful, and a home's ideal area. However, it needs to be noted that it demands a lot of space and is difficult to fit into tiny apartments. However, if you are the happy owner of a large apartment or villa, you have complete freedom to add a luxurious walk-in closet to your property. The size of your walk-in closet will be determined by your personal preferences.

  • A minimum of seven feet by ten feet is the standard size.

  • A single side closet is four to five feet deep, with a depth of 24 inches and a clearance of 36 inches.

  • Each side of a double-sided closet can contain two 24 inch storage spaces. It should have a 36-inch gap in the centre, allowing for a total width of six to seven feet.

What depth should a wardrobe be?

I advise that sliding wardrobes be installed at a depth of 660–670mm (overall) from the rear wall to the front of the top track, as this is regarded as the ideal depth for sliding wardrobes. Overall, the depth must not be less than 610mm. Normal use will be restricted below this depth.

Measure the depth of the closet wall space from the back wall to the outside of the side walls. Take measurements on both sides. Measure the inner space between the front and rear walls on both sides of the door for a reach-in closet. A wardrobe depth size is 530mm (600mm including the wall), anything less will reduce hanging space. Built-in wardrobes are frequently regulated by room limits and the overall layout of the home.

What is the standard wardrobe depth is now clear to you.
