Hello,

My friend’s wife passed away last month, so he talked to the lawyer about transferring her property to his name. The lawyer told him that he’ll have to keep these documents handy:

Where property is executed through the succession laws

: Succession Certificate, Punchnama or Partition deed executed among the legal heirs, NOC from the other heirs/ successors along with the affidavit, ID of the heirs on which the property’s title shall be transferred, and other such documents as needed by the respective state govt.

Where property is executed through will/testament

: Testament/Will, Letter of Administration or Probate, Certified copy of Testator’s death certificate, property deed and the ID of the individual through which the will transfer is executed.
