• Any government-issued document with a photograph is ‌ acceptable. Common examples include:

  • Aadhaar Card (India-specific) or

  • Passport or

  • Voter ID or

  • Driving License or

  • PAN Card (India) for tax-related verification or

  • NREGA Job Card signed by a State Government official

• Proof of Address: Documents validating the current address are necessary.

I was planning to open another bank account, but I didn't know which bank documents were needed for that. So, I called a friend of mine who works at ICICI Bank and asked him what documents are required to open a bank account. Here is what he told me about opening an account in ICICI Bank. 

What Documents are Needed to Open a Bank Account?

He told me that opening a bank account in ICICI bank is easy, and here are the documents that he mentioned about 

• Valid passport. 

• Aadhaar card.

• Valid Permanent Driving License 

• Voter ID Card

• NREGA Job Card

• Letter from the National Population Register.

Following that, I asked him about PAN, as he had not mentioned it in the list. He told me that the PAN Card issued in India is no longer considered a valid identity proof.
