My aunt is a corporate office designer and her career really fascinated me as a child. I have had chances of hearing a lot of stories about her clients and it was a dream for me to be like her someday. Things didn’t turn out the way I imagined but I have learnt quite a lot from her insights. So, if you ask me what does a commercial interior designer do, I’d be more than happy to share whatever I know.
What is the Role of Commercial Interior Designers?
There are different types of commercial interior designers. These people basically design interior spaces for businesses, such as offices, retail stores, restaurants, hotels, and other public spaces. Here are some duties and responsibilities of a commercial interior designer.
Consulting with clients and understanding their specific needs, goals, and budget for the project.
Based on the client’s requirements, they develop design layouts and concepts that will align with the brand.
They have to analyse the available space and develop floor plans accordingly. These include determining the placement of workstations, collaborative areas, fixtures, and employee amenities to ensure proper utilisation of the space.
These designers work as project managers, creating project schedules, monitoring progress, conducting site visits and inspections, and coordinating with contractors.
So, these are some of the essential responsibilities of a commercial interior designer. I hope this gives you some insight into the same.
