I recently purchased a new Samsung air conditioner (AC) unit and got it installed at my home. At that time, I got a manual where I found what does DF mean in air conditioner. I found that DF means Deforest Function in an AC. It is a crucial feature that keeps AC operating at their best in cold weather. Read on to learn more about DF in AC.

What does DF Mean on my Air Conditioner?

On my Samsung AC, it means defrost notification. The process of heat exchange may be restricted if this moisture freezes and forms an ice layer on coil.

  • The purpose of the defrost function is to get rid of this ice accumulation and make sure the air conditioner runs well.

  • This deforest mode causes the outdoor coils to heat up rather than cool down because the refrigerant flow is reversed.

  • The air conditioner will temporarily go into cooling mode when the defrost function is turned on.

  • Try lowering the temperature to reduce some of the pressure on the outdoor unit if you find "deforest code" displayed for longer than ten minutes in your AC.
