Hi Kanha, I was wondering what happens if geyser is left on a while ago when my daughter made the mistake. Although nothing happened as I noticed the geyser, I wanted to look up the outcomes. I found the geyser can fail and explode, depending on the duration and other things. I also looked for probable solutions to avoid leaving the geyser on for too long. I will tell you more about this below.

What Would Happen if Geyser is Left On?

Leaving your geyser for too long can lead to three things:

1. It will lead to increased electricity costs

2. The constant heating process of water will put a lot of stress on the geyser, leading to its failure. 

3. The geyser can explode because of the increasing load on it. 

It is quite a common thing to leave the geyser on as people forget or because many people are lined up to bathe. But you can avoid any mishap by getting a smart plug, which will turn off the geyser automatically after a set time period.

• If a geyser is left on for a long time, it may reduce the geyser's efficiency over time, impacting its ability to heat water effectively. 

I hope you can imagine what happens if geyser is left on for 24 hours. But nowadays, geysers come with automatic switch-off options so it’s better to buy them. After a certain period, when the geyser reaches its maximum temperature, it turns off.

• Leaving a geyser for a long period can also harm the geyser's internal parts, making them ineffective or even useless.

It can cause the one mentioned above if you left your geyser for 12 hours. When not in use, the geyser should be turned off to conserve energy, cut costs, and guard against accidents or damage to the equipment. I hope you have an idea of what happens if geyser is left on for 12 hours.
