It was the month of July, and I was planning to get my house exterior painted. As I wanted to perform my Griha Pravesh puja right after the painting project. However, I was a bit sceptical and worried about what if it rains after painting house. On consulting a painter, I realised that it is a bad choice to paint during the month of July as the sudden downpour can damage the freshly painted surface.

The painter said that the timing is most important for rain after house painting. When you look at exterior paints, it will take 1-2 days to dry before it can bear the impact of rain. If It rains after painting, 

• If the rain pours down after the fresh paint is applied it can smudge and streak.

• It can also cause the paint to bubble up and peel. After the downpour there would be excess moisture which would cause flaking and peeling. If the downpour was really bad then in the worst case you might need to do a full repainting.

Hence, I finally decided to postpone the painting project and my Griha Pravesh to the month of September. There is a substantial investment for buying paints and tools and it involves a good amount of money. The hard labour done for the painting goes to waste. The rain would put the paint job in jeopardy. In some cases due to rain the paint fades out.

• If you're already in the midst of painting and it starts to rain, try to cover the painted surfaces with plastic sheets or tarps to protect them from water damage.

• In addition, make sure the surfaces are properly prepared before painting. This includes cleaning, sanding, and priming as needed. A well-prepared surface will better withstand rain and other environmental factors, minimizing the risk of damage.

• It's also essential to use high-quality paint that is specifically designed for the surface you are painting, whether it's interior walls, exterior siding, or trim. Quality paint is more durable and water-resistant, providing better protection against rain damage.
