Hello. Being a tax consultant, I can help you understand what is 10E in income tax. So, to explain it, suppose you have received in arrears or advance of any sum like your salary. In such a case, you can claim tax relief u/s 89 on it. Now the thing is that if you wish to claim such a relief, you need to file Form 10E. Let me tell you more about the Form 10E ‌below.

What is10E Form of Income Tax?

As I said above, this form needs to be filed if you want to claim tax relief on any arrears or advance payment received as a salary.

  • As advised by the IT Department, you must file the Form 10E before filing the IT return.

  • In case you fail to file Form 10E but claim relief u/s89 in your Income Tax Return, your ITR will be processed, but your claim won’t be allowed. Hence, you must file the form 10E.

  • If your claim is disallowed, the same will be communicated to you by the ITD through an intimation u/s 143(1) once the processing of your ITR is complete.

This is all from my end. I hope you now know what is Form 10E in income tax.
