In such a case, you can claim tax relief u/s 89 on it. Now the thing is that if you wish to claim such a relief, you need to file Form 10E. Let me tell you more about the Form 10E below.
What is10E Form of Income Tax?
As I said above, this form needs to be filed if you want to claim tax relief on any arrears or advance payment received as a salary.
As advised by the IT Department, you must file the Form 10E before filing the IT return.
In case you fail to file Form 10E but claim relief u/s89 in your Income Tax Return, your ITR will be processed, but your claim won’t be allowed. Hence, you must file the form 10E.
If your claim is disallowed, the same will be communicated to you by the ITD through an intimation u/s 143(1) once the processing of your ITR is complete.
This is all from my end. I hope you now know what is Form 10E in income tax.
