I recently bought a Samsung 5 in 1 AC. The 5 in 1 AC meaning involves 5 alternative air conditioner settings, based on the user's needs regarding energy efficiency and cooling capacity.

What is the Meaning of 5 in 1 Convertible AC?

As I already mentioned that I recently purchased a 5 in 1 Samsung AC, let me share the 5 in 1 mode of my air conditioning unit;

• Power input of 40% (Home alone mode):

Ideal cooling throughout the day for one, along with optimal energy savings

• Power input of 60% (Eco mode):

24/7 Perfect cooling for a room of two persons, with significant energy savings

• Power input of 80% (Pleasant mode):

Enough cooling for a room of 3 people. This mode too preserves energy.

• Power input of 100% (Normal mode): 

Sufficient cooling to ensure a room for four is perfectly cool

• Power input of 120% (Party mode):

For optimal cooling efficacy during special events involving five or more individuals.

I chose this Samsung 5 in 1 convertible AC because it allows me to adjust power consumption in real time based on my cooling requirements, whether I am working alone, or entertaining a large group of people.

As much as I understand, electricity consumption of air conditioners is only going to decrease as technology develops and new features hit the market, making them affordable for people in the middle class in terms of electricity costs. Technology for inverters and convertible air conditioners arrived first, and today we have 5-in-1 mode. Customers like me are only becoming more and more perplexed with all these terminologies like what is 5 in 1 convertible AC. 

5 in 1 convertible AC meaning

A convertible air conditioner may operate at various cooling capacities, such as 30%, 60%, 80%, etc. If a convertible air conditioner has a 1 Tonne capacity, it can operate in 0.3 Tonne, 0.6 Tonne, and 0.8 Tonne modes thanks to the convertible mode.

The compressor's ability to operate at different speeds thanks to the inverter technology used in it makes this possible. The cooling power can be boosted from its maximum to 110% in a few ACs, but this is only possible for a brief period of time. When coming from outside the house, this is extremely helpful for obtaining rapid cooling.

Nowadays, every brand promotes split air conditioning units with various convertible capabilities, some of which include a 5-in-1 mode. 

What is convertible 5 in 1 AC?

A 5-in-1 convertible air conditioner has the flexibility to turn into 5 different configurations. 80%, 60%, 40%, 100%, and Auto are a few examples. 

• Since we would rather set the temperature for cooling than reduce the cooling power to 50% or 80%, I don't think the convertible option in an AC is really useful.

• In other words, if you want to conserve energy, set the temperature to 28 degrees Celsius rather than using the convertible mode to reduce the power consumption by 50%.

• Additionally, even though it might save energy if you cut the cooling power in half, your room still won't be cool.

• Because it features inverter technology, it is, therefore,therefore good to set the AC to the appropriate temperature instead. The AC will automatically run on reduced cooling power when the room reaches the appropriate temperature, conserving electricity.

• As a result, this feature is not as helpful as manufacturers claim!
