I work for a company that specialises in home decor and interior design. I collaborate with a group of interior designers. We recently obtained a contract for house design and construction. We really measured the room sizes that needed to be built, such as an ideal living room size, bedroom size, kitchen size, and bathroom size.

In a small residential house/apartment with a capacity for 3 to 5 people and a 2 seater sofa on the room's sidewall, as well as a 3-foot clear distance for movement, a small living room's normal size should be 10 ft * 13 ft (3.0m 3.9m), with a floor area of 130 sq ft or 11.75 sqm.

A medium living room with a standard size of 12 ft * 18 ft (3.6m * 5.4m) and a floor area of 216 sq ft or 19.44 sqm is required to accommodate 6 to 10 people and a three-seater sofa on the room's sidewall with a 3-foot clear gap for movement.
