I only knew postpaid and prepaid in terms of mobile recharge until I went to a mall where I was asked to use a prepaid card. I was confused so my friend came to help me and explained to me what is a prepaid card meaning and use. A prepaid card is like a debit card only that can be used to purchase things. It comes with a balance that acts as the spending limit. Once the balance money is used, we have to add more money to it. Let me tell you more about it.

Prepaid Card Concept in simple terms

Suppose you have recharges your mobile number with Rs 100 and you now have Rs 80 as your balance. You can send sms/ do voice calls/ use the internet and more using the money but after Rs 80 gets over, you have to recharge it again right? Similarly when the balance of a prepaid card gets over, you need to add more money to it and continue using it again.

Is a Prepaid Card linked with a bank?

No. A prepaid card is not linked with a bank like the debit card. You load money directly into a prepaid card and no bank transactions take place for it.

I hope this has made you understand what is a prepaid card meaning.
