Hi there, if you want to know what is air conditioner SEER rating, you’re at the right place. The SEER or the EER rating is called the Energy Efficiency Ratio, which is a grading unit bought out by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). This gradin is applied to ACs and refrigerators. India is a country where the temperature can go quite high, and there is a lot of fluctuation, as well, from one region to another. The ACs use a lot of energy during the peak summer season, so the BEE introduced this season rating standard, which is known as the Indian Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (ISEER).

What is a SEER on an Air Conditioner Calculation?

Now that I’ve shared some insights about the ISEER, let me take you through its calculation. This will make it easier for you to understand the whole thing.

So, ISEER is the ratio of the Cooling Seasonal Total Load (CSTL) to the Cooling Seasonal Energy Consumption (CSEC). If I break this down,

ISEER is the ratio of the amount of heat removed by the AC to the total amount of energy the AC consumes in one year.

The energy efficiency of any AC is determined through its average performance depending on the outside temperature, which is between 24 to 43 degrees Celsius.

Let me come to EER now.

The Energy Efficiency Ratio can be determined by the total amount of heat your AC removes in one hour divided by the total power consumed by the AC in one hour.

This is all from my side. I hope you now know what is AC SEER rating.
