Hey,

I have always been fascinated by structures, buildings, and shapes, so I keep reading about them. I have read about atrium house design as well.

What is an Atrium in a Building

Generally, you can find atrium in large-scale public spaces like hotel lobbies, office buildings, and even some big apartment buildings. On a smaller scale, atriums—skylit, central spaces—are a breath of fresh air in contemporary houses, bringing nature and light indoors.

The atrium is often used in smaller residential and commercial projects as a dramatic and elegant way to incorporate vertical circulation at the building’s center. It helps create a central point that draws all floors of the building together and enables light to filter through the whole structure.

In simple words, a large, high open space in the building’s centre is known as the atrium. It usually features a glass roof, and sometimes contains plants, fountains, etc. I hope now you must have gotten some home atrium design ideas.

An atrium is considered the heart of public buildings. It is not just the main space where social activities happen but also connects to nature (green spaces/sun) to enhance the indoor environment/levels of comfort of the buildings.

Significant but hard-to-measure functions of the atrium:
  • Contact with nature

  • Socialisation

  • Comfort

This is all you need to know about atrium style house.
