A few days back, while researching land rates, I came across the term bakast land. I wasn't aware of what it meant and thus, I asked my father what bakast land means. Here is what my father told me

My father told me that lands that originally belonged to tenants but were taken over by landlords for non-payments of dues. In a recent development, DCLR was ordered to take action on the basis of an application by Shiv Kumar Yadav of Biharsharif.  My father also told me that recently, the Patna high court instructed the authority to resolve the grievance related to this within three months, adhering to principles of natural justice.
