What is built up area?

The built-up area in your property is inclusive of the carpet area and the area that is covered by the inner walls and the balcony. Before we get into the details of the built up area, I would like to tell you quickly about the carpet area. In the housing apartments, the carpet area is simply an area within the house which can be covered with the carpet.

How is the built up area calculated?

Built up constitutes a balcony and terrace area along with the carpet area, it is usually around 70% to 80% of the super built up area of the property, i.e., an addition of 10% to 15% to the carpet area.

Built-up area = Carpet area + wall area + balcony area

What is included in the built up area?

Built up area as discussed above includes carpet area (bedroom area, dining room area, dressing room area, kitchen, study area, store room area, bathroom, balconies and staircases within the house), external and inner walls and utility ducts.

How is built up area different from the super built up area?

The most significant difference between the built up area and super built up area is that unlike built up area, super built up area is calculated by taking into account common areas, including the corridor, the lift lobby, the elevator, pools, gardens, etc.
