In Tamil Nadu, electricity is produced, transmitted, and distributed by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB). The TNEB imposes various fees on customers as part of its responsibilities to guarantee efficient operations. One such fee is Current Composition (CC) charges. Recently, I came to know about the CC charges in electricity bill meaning. Let’s learn about CC charges below.

What is CC charges in TNEB?

CC charges are imposed either bimonthly or monthly. If there are any outstanding due amounts or units from the previous month, EB used to charge CC.

  • These costs are applied on top of the actual charges for the electricity consumed. These fees serve to inform consumers of the effects of their electricity usage and to motivate them to practice energy conservation.

  • The more electricity a user utilise, the greater the CC charges they have to pay.

  • For further information on the current composition costs that apply to the power consumption, consumers can check the tariff structure offered by the TNEB online.

  • The CC deposit acts as a security deposit to guarantee that customers pay their debts related to energy usage and to pay for any prospective unpaid balances or potential future arrears.

I hope you got an idea of what is CC deposit in TNEB.

The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board levies certain types of charges for certain situations, and one such charge is the CC charges in TNEB. CC charges stand for Current Composition charges. This CC charge is charged monthly or bimonthly, as per the type of service. If you miss paying the bill for a month, CC charges need to be paid. Let me share more details about what is CC charges in electricity bill.

What is meant by CC charges in TNEB?

CC charges are the late fee that an individual needs to pay if there is an unpaid amount or units left for the last month. The consumer is liable to pay the CC charges in electricity bill if any. So in short, the current composition is the charge levied on the current billing cycle for the electricity consumed during that period. It includes the energy charges based on the units (kWh) consumed and any applicable fixed charges or additional charges based on the consumer category, connected load, and other factors. This charge represents the actual cost of electricity consumption during the billing cycle. Many people confuse CC charges with BPSC charges, so let me share the latter’s meaning as well.

What is BPSC charges TNEB?

BPSC stands for Belated Payment Surcharge. Belated Payment Surcharges are the additional charges that are levied on a consumer if he/she fails to pay their electricity bill by the due date specified in the bill. It is a penalty or late payment fee. The surcharge is calculated as a percentage of the outstanding bill amount and is added to the consumer's next bill. This charge is related to current consumption rates. In TNEB, if a bill is paid after the due date, then about 1.5% BPSC charges are levied. The customer will need to pay this 1.5% as an addition.

This is the CC charges in TNEB meaning.
