What is commencement certificate for building?

Certificate of commencement, similar to Occupancy Certificate and Completion Certificate is a technical document that is required for building, living, or mortgaging your property. CC is a certificate issued by the concerned authority permitting the builder/ construction group to start the construction process. This is only issued once the builder fulfils all criteria set by the local municipal authority.

The commencement certificate is usually given after the developer or builder has received all the required legal sanctions. To get the CC certificate, the plan for the project and other elements are put under preliminary checks. 

 

This is important as it tells people the builder has completed all legal provisions for the building. Permission from the water department, fire department, sewage department, electricity department, etc. is also needed for the certificate of commencement.
