I am a resident of Karnataka and after purchasing a commercial property I was in the process of registering the property. I wasn’t aware of the commercial property registration charges and so I called a friend and asked him about it. Here is what he told me.
What Are The Registration Charges For Commercial Property?
My friend told me about the stamp duty, registration charges and a few more charges . Here are those.
Particulars | Charges |
Stamp Duty |
5% on the property’s consideration value or the market value (whichever is higher). |
Registration Charges |
1% on the properties consideration value or market value (whichever is higher) |
Cess |
10% on the stamp duty value |
Surcharge |
2% of stamp duty for properties falling under the urban zone and 3% of stamp duty for properties falling under the rural zone. |
Following this he also told me about the process of calculating commercial shop registry charges online. Here is how
He told me to visit the
Kaveri Online Services Portal Stamp Duty Calculator page.
I was asked to fill in the necessary details in the fields.
From the drop down menu he suggested that I choose the nature of the document.
Followed by selecting the region and filling in the indicative market value, consideration amount.
Now, he told me to click on the “Calculate market value” option, if I am not aware of the market value.
Finally, I was asked to click on Calculate to get the amount.
And that's all he told me about the commercial property registration charges. I hope this helps.
