I do not file TDS returns or something but recently two of my colleagues started discussing what is conso file in TDS and why it is used. I later understood that conso file stands for consolidated file and is used for making any update in the quarterly TDS/TCS statement. I did a bit of research about it to know about its meaning and importance so I can share some details about it here.

What is the meaning of conso file?

A conso file or consolidated file is a consolidated data of the TDS or TCS statement that gets processed for the particular Financial Year, quarter and form type. So in short the conso file utility is to make corrections in TDS/TCS statement.
