I learned about what a convertible AC means from the shopkeeper only when we went to buy an AC. I have shared some major aspects of this type of AC here.

What is the Meaning of Convertible AC?

Understanding what does convertible AC mean is not that hard. As the name suggests, this AC can be converted into different types for cooling purposes. 

For example, it can turn down the cooling capacity from 100% to 80%, 60% or even 40%. It acts like a flexible cooling system that lets you adjust its power. It has different gears for your AC so you can choose how much cooling capacity you need based on the weather or your comfort preferences. So this is the simple answer to what is convertible air conditioner.

Is Convertible AC Better?

Convertible ACs are considered better than window units as:

• These ACs offer adjustable cooling capacities, suitable for varying needs.

This year during the onset of summer, I was planning to buy an AC for my home. I visited the appliance shop, where I learned about convertible ACs. I was not sure, so before buying I did my research on, “What is convertible AC?” I’d like to share my research regarding the same.

What is convertible AC?

An air conditioner that can operate at various cooling capacities, such as 30%, 60%, 80%, etc., is called a convertible AC. If an AC unit has a convertible mode has a 1 Tonne capacity, it can operate as a 0.3 Tonne, 0.6 Tonne, or 0.8 Tonne unit. This is possible due to the inverter technology used in it which allows the compressor to run at variable speeds.

Every brand is now pushing split AC with different convertible features some are offering 4-in-1 mode, and others are offering 6-in-1 mode. 

What is 6 in 1 convertible AC?

The customer has the option to adjust the cooling capacity with the AI Convertible 6-in-1 according to their needs. The air conditioner will provide ideal cooling at the same time by automatically analysing current conditions and inputs provided by the sensors via its Artificial Intelligence convertible mode and built-in sensors.

• To configure the AC to run at full capacity, press the Mode button once.

• The capacity is reduced to 80% with the second click.

• The third click lowers the capacity to 60% if you want to cut it even more.

• By selecting the Mode option four times, you can lower the capacity to 40%, depending on the outside temperature and the number of people in the room.

• The operational mode switches to AI Mode after the fifth click.

• The sixth click finally causes the compressor to operate at 110% of its potential.

What is 4 in 1 convertible AC?

4-in-1 convertible AC will allow its capacity to change into 4 different options.

After getting a proper understanding of What is convertible AC, I decided that depending on my requirements, I can control the AC’s cooling based on the outdoor temperature and operational load.
