My father recently retired after serving a company for 23 years straight. Recently when the topic of his pension came up, I got to know that he is a corporate subscriber. I did not understand much about it but knew it had something to do with his corporate company only. I asked him what is corporate subscriber in NPS or National Pension Scheme so that I could understand the concept vividly. He said that the employees from the corporate field whose name gets enrolled by the employer will be regarded as subscribers under the NPS scheme. I can share more details here so that you understand the concept more clearly.

What is the Corporate NPS Scheme?

Corporate NPS is a scheme regulated by PFRDA where contributions are being done at regular intervals by the employer on behalf of his employee and the fund goes straight into the employee’s NPS account. Both public and private sector employees can opt for NPS under the corporate model.

What are the benefits of this scheme?

There are several benefits of corporate NPS like:

  • One can invest maxim upto 10% of the employees’ basic salary + the dearness allowance coming via his employer

  • The best part is, this investment can be tax exempt as per Section 80CCD(2) of the Income Tax Act of 1961.

This is all I had to tell about the corporate subscriber in NPS.
