Hi, I spent some time in Gurgaon due to my job and I was sharing a flat with few friends. I think I can answer your question to a certain extent.

To begin with, there are several things which have a direct impact on the cost of living in an area for families. To understand what is the cost of living in Gurgaon, I will take some major factors into consideration:

Accommodation:

In accommodation, it depends whether you have a rented house or you own a property. If you have a flat on rent in areas like Sector 10, Sector 10 A, Sector 1, etc. then the rent will be on a lower side. Whereas a 2BHK apartment in sectors that are closer to metro station can go upto Rs. 15,0000 to Rs. 18000 excluding furnishings.

Daily Expenses:

Daily regular expenses in my experience were close to Rs. 300 to Rs. 400 for milk, vegetables and fruits. However, this depends on your requirement.

Transportation:

Transportation in Gurgaon is a little expensive. If you live in or around commercial sectors, the prices for auto rickshaw and battery operated vehicles are quite high. Private cabs are expensive too. You can expect the expenses on transportation to be between Rs. 200 to Rs. 400 depending on the mode of transport.

Utilities:

Utilities include electricity, water, gas, WiFi, mobile bills, etc. Electricity, water and gas connection bills amounted to Rs. 8500 on average. It depends on the usage as well.

Entertainment and Recreational activities:

There are many malls, restaurants, cafes and other recreational centers in Gurgaon especially around Cyber Hub, DLF and MG Road. If you are out for drinks or dinner with a group of friends, the average bill for food and fun can start at Rs. 1500 per head (a few mid-range drinks included). However, this number totally depends on what type of food, restaurant or recreational activities you indulge in.

Keeping miscellaneous expenses in mind, my best guess is that the average cost will fall around Rs. 55000 per month if we consider all the factors.

I hope this will be helpful :)

We are a family of 3 (husband, wife, and one kid) living in Gurgaon. The average cost of living in Gurgaon for a family can be a little more costly. I can say that for a comfortable lifestyle, the monthly cost can range from Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000. This includes the rent of a 2 BHK of 1200 sq. ft. rent which is Rs. 13000.

What is the Average Living Cost in Gurgaon?

I can share my approximate cost of living in Gurgaon;

  • My 2 BHK apartment rent:

As per

NoBroker Rentometer

, the average rent of a 2BHK in Gurgaon ranges from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 14,000. My landlord charges Rs. 13000

  • My monthly costs for maintenance and utilities like gas, water, and electricity:

Rs. 5000

  • Cost of preschool:

Rs. 15000

  • Monthly transportation cost:

Rs 5,000

  • The price of a mid-segment restaurant meal:

Rs 1,500.

  • Cost of groceries per month:

Rs. 8,000

  • Extra expenses:

Rs. 6,000

So I approximately pay Rs. 53500  for my monthly expenses in Gurgaon.
