Hey there, We purchased a resale flat in Delhi last year and got the whole house renovated, where we installed a cove style false ceiling, too. So, I can tell you about the false ceiling cove.

What is False Ceiling with Cove?

The cove false ceiling style is where the wall and ceiling curve or slope towards one another. The wall and ceiling meet at an angle, or it could also be a seamless arch. The walls rise or cave up and the ceilings get higher. Let me tell you about some of the cove ceiling designs for your home;

  • Top Reveal Coved Ceiling:

This cove ceiling design presents the wall to be curving and flowing into the ceiling. It attaches to the ceiling using a wood piece known as fur down. With this, an angle is created at the end of the curving wall and the start of the ceiling.

  • Bottom Reveal Coved Ceiling:

In this, the cove ceiling design flows down towards the wall and an angled area ends the curve to provide a starting point for the wall.

  • Seamless Coved Ceiling:

A smooth flow from wall to ceiling without the presence of any sharp edges or obstacles is seen in this false ceiling. You can use them in common areas like passages and corridors for a softening effect in narrow spaces.

This is all I have to share. I hope you find the information helpful.

I want you to know that choosing the right lights can enhance the look of any space. This is why you should put some thought into getting the right light fixtures and lamps for your house. If you like the warm, soft glow that gently illuminates a room, then you should go for cove lighting. I will tell you everything about ceiling coving in this answer.

What is Cove in False Ceiling

One of the most popular false ceiling designs in modern houses, the cove ceiling comprises a rectangular straight slab that is kept a couple of centimeters below the existing ceiling. Some people think that if you build a false ceiling, they will have to spend more; particularly if they’ll add additional electrical wiring and lighting fixtures to their existing ceiling. But experts believe that this will help them save money in the future. This is because the cove lighting can effortlessly disperse light, so you wouldn’t need to use more than one light source, thus saving a lot of money.

Some ways you can employ the cove ceiling design:

Recessed Tray:

It is a basic cove lighting in which a beam is attached to the wall. A pin light is attached to the point where the beam and wall meet with its light aimed directly at the existing ceiling for it to bounce off. You will often see it in many condos, especially condos that have very few sources of light. It is very simple to build. To begin, just install either an LED strip or T bar light across the point where the wall and beam connect. When mounting the beam for your cove, please ensure there is enough space for you to change your lights when it burns out.

U-shaped Cove Lighting

: Usually, you will see kind of cove lighting in small spaces like HDB homes and condos. It is just like the basic cove lighting except it encompasses 3 sides of the room, leaving one side free as an accent.

L-Shaped Cove Lighting

: Generally used in semi-wide spaces, this type of cove lighting takes the shape of an L. Just like how an L-shaped sofa maximises the space, so does an L-shaped cove. In this case, it’d actually give the illusion of a well-proportioned and bigger room.
