I always want my house to be clean and healthy so that my child can grow in a good environment. A house which is dirty or messy tends to hamper both the vibe of the house as well as the mood of the members living in it. Both me and my husband were determined to build as many windows as possible so that we can get the

cross ventilation in room perfectly and thereby have a happy environment. Let me tell you why cross ventilation is so important for us.

What is cross ventilation?

Cross ventilation is a process by which the cool air is pulled into a room through one opening, usually the window and also pulls out the hot air out of the room through another window or opening.

It helps in improving the thermal comfort of a house by maintaining the minimum air quality and also reduces the heat and other pollutants. It allows natural airflow that helps in making the house germ free and hygienic as well.

Advantages of cross ventilation

  • The internal temperature gets moderate, neither too hot nor too cool

  • Helps in eradicating bad odours or other gases as well and also reduce moisture accumulation

  • It is a natural method so neither money nor energy get wasted yet the house is made comfortable

  • Cross ventilation also allows sunlight to light up your house and creates a good and happy vibe along with killing the harmful germs

I hope these points are enough to know why cross ventilation is necessary.

Hey,

Nobody wants to live in a house that is stale because it does not get any fresh air. To me, big windows that allow plenty of sunlight and wind are very important. I will tell you what is cross ventilation, knowing the meaning will help you recognize if your house has good ventilation or not.

What is cross ventilation in homes ?

It is a method that allows your house to naturally cool down. It is also known as Wind Effect Ventilation. Cool Wind from outside enters the home via an inlet (like a wall louver, a gable, or an open window). This forced warm air on the inside to leave via roof vent or a high window opening.

You can increase your ventilation by opening windows, and doors on the exterior wall of the house.

Here are a few advantages of cross ventilation :
  •  Moderates the temperature of the house.

  •  Reduce accumulated moisture in the house.

  •  Reduce stale, warm air in the premises.

  •  Decreases odours present in the house

  •  Gets rid of build-up gases in the house.

A few things you can get in your house to improve cross ventilation are clerestory windows, operable skylights, roof ventilators, and vented ridges. This is all from my side on what is cross ventilation.
