Hi. I saw you asking what is EER air conditioner. Being from the mechanical field, I have dealt with ACs a lot during my previous job. So, let me help you by explaining EER.

What is EER in AC?

EER stands for Energy Efficiency Ratio, which gives the measurement of the AC’s energy performance when in cooling mode. To simplify it further, EER is the amount of heat removed by the AC in an hour divided by the total power consumed during this period.

The EER is the ratio of the output cooling energy produced by the AC to the input electrical energy used at the time of full load operation.

The greater the EER of the AC, the greater the efficiency of the AC equipment in cooling mode. This means that the AC’s electrical consumption is less to produce an equal amount of cooling in the room.

The EER is calculated based on two conditions, which are fixed.

  1. One is that it is measured at a fixed ambient condition (5 °C / 95 °F outside air temperature, 27 °C / 80 °F inside air temperature and 50% relative humidity).

  2. The second is that the AC is running at full load i.e., at its maximum cooling capacity.

Talking about what is a good EER rating for an air conditioner, the number is dependent on certain factors. The EER is different for a split AC compared to a window AC. So, I recommend you ask for the ideal EER rating for your place from an expert there.

So, this is all about EER meaning in AC. I hope you now have a better understanding of EER.
