The unreserved group of people in India who have a family income of less than 8 lakh rupees per year is known as the Economically Weaker Section or EWS. The majority of individuals in these social categories are those from economically poor backgrounds who lack access to necessary resources and opportunities. This group covers those who do not fall within the ST/SC/OBC caste categories and do not already benefit from the reservation. People from the general category who meet the requirements to be included in the EWS reservation are eligible for a 10% reservation.
