EWS is a certificate that is given to people based on their income and assets. This certificate is issued to the citizens belonging to the economically weaker sections of the society. EWS category falls under the general category and is separate from other backward classes or SC and ST categories. 

EWS एक प्रमाणपत्र है जो लोगों को उनकी आय और संपत्ति के आधार पर दिया जाता है। यह प्रमाण पत्र समाज के आर्थिक रूप से कमजोर वर्ग के नागरिकों को जारी किया जाता है। EWS श्रेणी सामान्य श्रेणी के अंतर्गत आती है और अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग या एससी और एसटी श्रेणियों से अलग है।

The EWS bill was passed in the year 2019 by the President of the nation. Citizens or candidates that fall under the EWS category are given 10% of reservations. The 10% reservation is issued by the government for government jobs, schools, and college/ university admissions. 

To avail of the benefits of an EWS certificate, one has to show a valid certificate that has been issued by government officials or competent authorities.
