When I first considered installing a glass roof at my home, the first thing I needed to figure out was the cost of glass roof. I’d always liked the idea of having more natural light, but I knew the budget would play a big part in the decision. After checking around and talking to a few contractors, I got a pretty good idea of what to expect.

There are a few main types of glass roofs you can choose from in India, and each has a different cost:

How Much Does a Glass Roof Cost?

1. Basic Single-Layer Glass Roof: This is the most affordable option, usually costing around Rs. 300 to Rs. 600 per square foot. 

2. Toughened Glass Roof: This type of glass is strengthened to handle more pressure and is great for durability. It’s priced between Rs. 600 and Rs. 1,200 per square foot. 

3. Double-Glazed Glass Roof: If insulation is a big concern for you, this is a good option. It has two layers of glass with a gap in between, it helps in temperature control. The cost for this type can go from Rs. 1,200 to Rs. 2,000 per square foot. It’s more expensive but ideal if you live in a very hot or cold region.

For my own glass roof, I decided on toughened glass because it was right in the middle in terms of cost and performance. It cost me about Rs. 900 per square foot, including installation. It turned out to be the perfect fit, giving me durability without going over my budget.

Glasses come in different shapes, sizes, thickness or more so it is hard to say the exact

glass price per square foot. We used the toughened glass of 12mm for our glass door and it was Rs 129/ sq ft on an average. We opted for the plain bluish colored glass but it can be of several types like

• Glass circle

• Sight glass

• View glass

• Multicolor

• Transparent

• Design or printed and more.

 

What is the toughened glass for roof price?

The designer provided us the cost of toughened glass for the roof as well and let me tell you that it will cost about Rs 180/sq ft having a plain pattern. However if you want to know the toughened heat glass cost per square foot, it will be about Rs 200/sq ft then on an average and goes upto Rs 235/sq ft.

 

The fixed toughened glass door that we installed was quite expensive and its price is about Rs 550/ sq ft. 

The cost of 5mm thick toughened glass starts from Rs 85/sq ft and for 6mm, it is Rs 105/sq ft.

 

Now these details are based on the cost that we were told. You should satte for what purpose you want the glass, where you want to install, its size, design, thickness and more to get the exact amount and get the glass price per square foot accurately.
