 What is herringbone flooring?

It is a traditional flooring pattern where parquet blocks are laid to make a pattern. In comparison to standard flooring planks, herringbone blocks are smaller. All the pieces are cut into small triangles and laid down in a way that one plank overlines the other. Herringbone wood floor is popular because of its zigzag pattern staggered that is broken.

For the installation process, you will need a border flooring strip, rubber mallet, wood glue, tape measure, screws, etc. 

How to install herringbone flooring?

  • Prepare the area and gather all the material.

  • Find the centre of the room with tape. 

  • Lay down each slat at a 90-degree angle

  • Add groove to each slat.

  • Then you will need to draw a centreline through the middle.

  • Lay down the slats in a pattern 

  • Use screws and a mallet to nail the pieces in place. 

  • Fill all the empty blanks with flooring spline 

  • Add a border to the floor with the help of a router. 

  • Your floor is installed and ready.
