What is High Rise Building?

I also wondered what is high rise building or what is a high rise apartment and started indulging time to know how exactly they are constructed. As the name itself suggests, such buildings are multi story buildings that are very tall unlike the houses or small buildings and need an elevator for vertical transportation or else it is impossible to go to the top floor through stairs. High Rise buildings generally have 7 to 10 storeys and skyscrapers might have upto 40 storeys or even more.

Different nations answer the question of what is considered a high rise apartment differently. For example, in the US any building with more than 7 storeys is considered as a high rise building or apartment but in India, a building more than 4 storeys is considered as a high rise building. Similarly, in Germany, a building with 12 floors is considered a high rise building. 

To be precise, any building that is 75 feet tall is called a high-rise building.
