iPIN full form in banking is an Internet Personal Identification Number. It is a password that is used to access your National Pension System (NPS) account online. Your iPIN is unique to you and is generated by the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL).

To access your NPS account online, you will need to enter your iPIN and Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN). Your iPIN is just as important as your PRAN, so it is important to keep it safe and confidential.

Now that you know the full form of iPIN, here are some tips for using your iPIN securely:

  • Do not share your iPIN with anyone.

  • Create a strong iPIN that is difficult to guess.

  • Change your iPIN regularly.

  • Do not enter your iPIN on public computers or unsecured Wi-Fi networks.

If you forget your iPIN, you can reset it online through the NSDL website.

Here are some of the benefits of using iPIN in NPS in banking:

  • It is a convenient and secure way to access your NPS account online.

  • It allows you to view your account balance, transaction history, and other important information.

  • It allows you to make contributions to your NPS account online.

  • It allows you to change your investment options online.

I hope this information is helpful.

These days remembering information is getting more difficult. I often get confused between the digits of my Aadhar Card number, driver's licence, iPIN in NPS and bank account number. All these numbers are given by different authorities yet are the same. All of them are used for identification. Let me share in detail what is iPIN in NPS.

What is iPIN for NPS?

Each NPS subscriber is allotted a password for accessing their respective NPS accounts. This number is inherently unique. No two subscribers will have the same iPIN. The 12 digits PRAN is the user ID and the iPIN (internet personal identification number) is the password for logging into your account.

Since I have an account in one of the 17 banks empanelled with the National Securities Depository Ltd (NSDL). I could apply for an NPS account online with minimal paperwork and hassle at enps.nsdl.com. You will get a pin if you enrol in either Tier 1 or Tier 2 of the NPS.

The pin is used to give access to the profile to check the total investment amount or make any changes.

When I enrolled in the NPS ( National Pension Scheme), I got an internet personal identification number sent to my email id. I reset my NPS iPIN soon after as a security measure. I will draw a parallel to help you understand better. Banks receive an iPIN when we get a new card. It helps us view our accounts and perform transactions online.

Last point in my explanation on what is iPIN in NPS. If you subscribe to the CRA system, you will get an I-pin as well.
