What is MR Code in Electricity Bill?

I had heard about application IDs, customer IDs and more but recently, after getting a rented house in Bangalore, I came across the term MR. If you too are wondering what is MR code in electricity bill, let me share everything about it. Also do note that the first 6 digits of the MR code is the location code so next time when someone asks you for your location code, be prepared to answer it.

MR code stands for Meter Reader code. You can find this in any of the BESCOM bills easily. This code helps you to know about the electricity consumption for that particular month easily. So if you think your electricity bill is coming way too high, check out this meter reader code yourself, tally it with the bill you get and then decide whether the bill printed is true or not

Meter reading is mostly done physically but in many places, the digital meter reading is done and in such cases, the chances of discrepancies decrease.

How to decrease my meter reading?

• Try not using electrical appliances at high speed, be it AC, fridge, washing machine or more

• Allowing the free flow of air inside the room to keep them cool and lessen the use of ACs

• Shift to solar energy
